Set custom User-Agent string. Also available for Firefox on Android. To set your custom User-Agent string, visit Add-on manager > Corresponding 'Options'. The three numbers would in all cases be the same, at least for the moment.) Rationale User Agent strings accumulate cruft, and complex ones lead to server-side parsing which makes all sorts of wrong assumptions about browser capabilities which can't then be fixed on the client-side apart from by adding more cruft. Note what happened when sites started using 'Gecko' as a synonym for 'standards-compliant'; WebKit browsers still have 'like Gecko' stuck in their User Agents. Here's a highly crufty example from current iPads: Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.21.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.4 Mobile/7B314 Safari/531.21.10 In addition, variance in the user agent string adds additional bits of entropy which can be used for. For this reason, we have done to try and reduce UA string variance. So our hope is to provide the shortest UA string possible, encourage good practice in sniffing, avoid giving developers footguns, and (as much as possible) avoid breaking existing working sites. It is not a goal to make sites which are currently broken to work - we don't think playing that game this way leads to a good outcome, and are committed to solving that problem through and compatibility improvements to our platform. But we want to and must nail down what the string should be, so we can start the work of evangelism without the risk of telling sites things which later turn out to become false. The string above fits with the on desktop. (Our proposal is intended to replace what that blog post says about Mobile.) It also fits with the guidelines of the for Firefox products. Fennec/Firefox We have removed the 'Fennec' identifier because we don't want sites to detect that instead of Firefox or 'Mobile' or 'Tablet'. Our market share is currently small enough that we hope we can get away with this without breaking too many sites. Mobile Firefox is Firefox - it's not something else. That's one of its great selling points - you get the same browser engine everywhere. Our UA string should reflect that. Platform We have put the 'Mobile' and 'Tablet' identifiers among the platform identifiers because that's the logical place for them to go. Anyone sniffing for the string 'Mobile' doesn't care where they are. Firefox is not going to match anyone sniffing for 'Mobile Safari' wherever we put the word 'Mobile' (and sometimes that string isn't present on WebKit anyway, as some Webkit UAs have 'Mobile/ Safari'). Mobile Internet Explorer. So really, just sniffing for 'Mobile' is the way to find all these mobile browsers. (Although iPad also says 'Mobile'.) On the tablet side, Opera already calls itself 'Opera Tablet' when running on a tablet, so there is also precedent for using that string to identify tablets, and for varying a tablet UA compared to desktop. The iPad identifies itself as an 'iPad' instead of a 'Macintosh' (clearly, Apple isn't going to use the generic device name). Gecko Date We have taken the opportunity to remove the Gecko date entirely (i.e. Reduce to 'Gecko/12.0' - as having something after the / is required by the HTTP spec). That statement may cause some Apple users to argue or walk away, but 2017 has so far seen more Mac malware and adware than. Our free Mac antivirus protects on 3 fronts. Malware isn’t the only threat to your Mac. Malicious websites and vulnerable Wi-Fi networks can also jeopardize your safety. Avast Security provides essential free protection against all 3 threats, and our new Pro version goes the extra mile to expose Wi-Fi intruders and stop ransomware. • Pros Certified by one independent testing lab. Speedy full scan. Excellent phishing protection for Chrome and Firefox. Useful bonus features. Ransomware protection. Wi-Fi intruder detection. • Cons Doesn't add much to free edition's features. Poor phishing protection for Safari. Password manager includes only basic features. • Bottom Line Avast Security Pro (for Mac) adds ransomware protection and Wi-Fi intruder detection to the features found in Avast's free antivirus, but these additions don't merit its high price. The myth that Macs can't suffer viruses, Trojans, or other types of malware attack is busted. Oh, the situation isn't nearly as bad as on Windows or Android, but Macs really do need protection. There are free options available, including Avast Security (for Mac), but commercial antivirus utilities offer more features and do better in testing. Looking at what this product adds beyond the features in the free edition, it's really hard to justify the price. This product's main window looks exactly like that of the free edition, except for the absence of the upgrade offer. Plenty of white space surrounds a simple security status indicator. The left-rail menu is also the same as in the free edition. The difference is that clicking Ransomware Shield or Wi-Fi Inspector brings up the component, rather than displaying an upgrade invitation. The look is very different from that of, which uses a dark gray background with occasional elements in purple and green. The most common pricing plan for Mac antivirus runs $39.99 per year for one license or $59.99 for three. Bitdefender,, Kaspersky, and Malwarebytes all fit this profile. Price-wise, Avast is on the high end, at $59.99 per year or $69.99 for three licenses. That's expensive, considering that the free edition has all the same features except for Ransomware Shield and Wi-Fi Inspector, which I'll detail below. Shared Features This utility shares all the features of the free, and that's saying a lot. I'll briefly summarize those shared features here, and you can should read my review of the free product for more details. Certified Avast's Mac malware protection as effective. In testing, it protected against 99.9 percent of Mac malware and 100 percent of Windows malware. AV-Test Institute, the other major lab that tests Mac antivirus, did not include Avast in testing. Note, though, that Bitdefender and Kaspersky earned 100 percent in both tests, and received certification from both labs. I don't have the same kind of resources for antivirus testing under macOS as I do for Windows. I did try scanning a folder containing my current collection of Windows malware. Avast detected and quarantined 85 percent of the samples, which is quite good. Only, with 86 percent, and Sophos, with 100 percent, have done better. At the low end, McAfee caught 25 percent and Intego just 18 percent. Avast's full scan finished in 14.5 minutes, which is quite a bit faster than the current average of 24 minutes. The impressive Home Network Security Scanner took less than three minutes to take note of all devices on my network. It found 36 devices and flagged legitimate security problems on two of them. Phishing websites masquerade as secure sites in the hopes of fooling you into giving away your login credentials. It doesn't matter which browser you use, or which operating system. Avast's scores in my hands-on phishing protection test were extremely poor. The phishing protection systems built into Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer all outperformed Avast, by a long shot. I learned from my company contacts that phishing protection is fully functional in Chrome and Firefox, but only partly in Safari. The developers are working up a browser-independent version. In a new test using Chrome, Avast scored better than any Mac product except Bitdefender. It tied with Norton and beat out all three browsers. If you're relying on Avast for phishing protection, make sure you use Chrome or Firefox. I want to point out (if you're not aware) that pretty much all of the viewers simply pull out the *embedded* jpeg that lives inside the raw file. So, if you really want to see the raw image, you need to go the extra step ala fastrawviewer. Also note that the licensing is OS independent so 1 $15 purchase covers your Mac and PC. ========================== The purchased License is OS-independent, and can be used to have FastRawViewer activated on up to two computers simultaneously, as long as each computer is owned by you and you are the only one with access to FastRawViewer You may transfer the license from one computer to another, provided the terms of ownership are followed, by de-activating FastRawViewer on one of the computers that have it active and activating it on another one. Cheers Howard. You don't really need one. You can just select an image file and press the space bar to see it, or double-click it to open with Preview. If you want something more than that, you'll need to say what specific features you're looking for. Support RAW Formats. Besides the JPG, JPEG, TIFF, PNG, BMP and other photos format, WidsMob Viewer also supports most of the popular RAW formats. It is able to load RAW files from SD card or external drive. It also enables you to turn RAW files into JPG, PNG and other photo formats. Different previewing mode. That's a tick for it. Regarding using Finder, it doesn't seem possible to view the file at 1:1 (assuming the embedded jpg is big enough). I really need that ability so as to check if things are in focus. I found a free program called xnViewMP which I guess does the job. As far as I can tell it doesn't treat the jpg and raw as one, though, so I can't delete both with one action. It's also a bit of a messy interface, although it's possible that as I dig into the preferences it might be possible to customise it a bit. You read all that you could on the internet about why you should be shooting in RAW only to find out that you can't see your images on your computer when you import them to your hard drive. There is nothing more frustrating than to be following advice and have it not work!! Because RAW images come in a special format of their own, you will need to download what is called a codec (software that tells the computer how to read the data it is given). The codec is only good for allowing you to see the images in preview thumbnails and open them in an image viewer. If you plan on editing your RAW files, you will need software to help you out with that. But first, make sure your computer is up to date with the latest software and codecs needed to work with RAW images. Updates Windows Click the links to download the latest RAW codecs for your computer. Get Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac for students, exclusively from OnTheHub. Zoom does not affect the reading pane or received messages - those will show the actual font size.
